Show information: Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat narrates the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos. Horton must protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, and he must also guard an abandoned egg that's been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird.  Although Horton faces ridicule, danger and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him.  Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!
Seussical Jr. celebrates faith, hope, and the power of believing. Just as Horton believes in “a person’s a person, no matter how small,” the Bible teaches that every life has value and purpose in God’s eyes (Psalm 139:14). The story reminds us to trust in what we cannot see, echoing Hebrews 11:1: “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see" and to preserve and do what we know is right, even in the face of hardship. Horton’s perseverance and love mirror Christ’s call to remain steadfast and compassionate, even when others doubt or mock us for our faith in what we cannot see.
